- Send an E-mail message to majordomo@mail.michigancc.net
- Leave the Subject: of your message blank

subscribe mdec-open
<your e-mail address>

listserve) type
subscribe mdec <your
e-mail address>
Send the message. Once it has been approved and you've been added,
you'll be sent further instructions on how to use the listserv
- Use the same process for unsubscribing, only substitute the word unsubscribe
for subscribe in the above directions
Using the Mailing Lists
Once you are subscribed, you can send e-mail directly to everyone on the
list by addressing your correspondence to
mdec-open@mail.michigancc.net
for the MDEC Open listserve and mdec@mail.michigancc.net.
The following are some hints and tips to keep in mind when using mailing
lists:
- Use the actual list address for list correspondence only. If
you have "administrative" questions about the listserve send
administrative requests to majordomo@mail.michigancc.net
.
- Remember that everything, including replies, are sent to everyone on
the list, so if you wish to reply to an individual, use his/her
address, not the lists, in your reply.
- Always unsubscribe from listservs before going on vacation if you
use a "vacation message". Better still, avoid using
"vacation messages" altogether, as they usually cause more
problems than they cure.
Finding Out Who is on a Specific List
In order to find out who is subscribed to a specific list, follow these
instructions:
- Send an E-mail message to majordomo@mail.michigancc.net
- Leave the Subject: of your message blank
- On the first line of the message, type who mdec-open
- Send the message. You will receive a listing of users back from the
server usually within a matter of seconds.
